Lalitha Rayavarapu, MD


Dr. Jeffrey Brittan spent his formative years in Alliance, Nebraska. He attended Creighton University as an undergraduate and was accepted into Creighton School of Medicine. After completing his family practice residency at Creighton Medical School, he accepted a full-time teaching faculty position at Creighton School of Medicine. In 1986, he decided to establish a private practice in North Platte joining Dr. Dwight Larson. In 1995, he and Dr. Conell formed Midlands Family Medicine.
Dr. Brittan and his wife, Connie, have four children. He is an active Boy/Cub Scout leader and is a board member of the North Platte Catholic Schools Endowment Trust. He enjoys snow skiing, camping, hiking, art, and creating stained glass windows.





Dr. Jason Citta is originally form Columbus, Nebraska. He received his undergraduate degree from Chadron State College in 1996, majoring in Health Sciences. Dr. Citta graduated from the University of Nebraska Medical School in 1999, and completed his three year family practice residency at UNMC's Family Medicine in Omaha. After completing his residency, Dr. Citta entered a one year Rural Medicine Fellowship to acquire further rural medicine training, including emphasis in the areas of neonatal intensive care, adult intensive care, high risk obstetrical care, and gastroenterology procedures. He completed this fellowship in July of 2002 and joined Midlands Family Medicine at that time. Dr. Citta enjoys fishing, hunting, boating, and camping



Kris Downing graduated from Creighton University where she received her Master of Science in Nursing degree. Her focus was in family practice.  She and her husband have three children. She enjoys spending time with her family and enjoying the outdoors. 


Dr. Shawn Murdock is originally from North Platte, Nebraska.  He attended Chadron State College under the RHOP Program as an undergraduate and completed medical school at UNMC School of Medicine graduating in 2006.  Dr. Murdock completed his residency as part of the UNMC Family Medicine Advanced Rural Training Program which prepared him for all aspects of rural Family Medicine.  After completing his residency, he returned home with his wife, Michelle, to join Midlands Family Medicine.

He currently enjoys time outside of medicine with his wife, daughter and dog.




Dave Arthur graduated from the University of Nebraska Medical School in 1975 in the first class of Physician Assistants. He has been practicing medicine with Dr. Conell since 1975.
Dave & Mary Arthur have three children. He enjoys raising and showing Lovebirds and is a judge for national bird shows. He has been actively involved with Scouting and currently participates with the St. Patrick's High School Activities Association.


Dr. Lalitha Rayavarapu was born in India, and grew up in the Caribbean.  Upon completion of High School, she returned to India to complete medical school I Maharashtra State.  She then came to the United States to begin her residency program through the University of Nebraska Rural Residency Program which she has recently completed.

She is married to Dr. Sri Suravarapu who is an Internist with Midlands Internal Medicine.  They have two children and have been in the North Platte community for years now.  Her free time is spent with family, travelling, and watching movies.




Dr. Mark Nielsen is the first provider at Midlands to provide Internal Medicine services. A native of Lincoln, Nebraska, he graduated from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha in 1986. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Missouri, Kansas City, in 1989. He attended the Stanford School of Sleep Medicine for continuing education.  He is board certified in Internal Medicine.  Memberships include the American Medical Association, Nebraska Medical Association, and the Lincoln County Medical Association.
Dr. Nielsen is married and has three children. During his free time, he enjoys hunting, fishing, snowboarding, and spending time with his family.






Dr. Suravarapu graduated from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, India in 2002. He obtained his Masters in Public Health (M.P.H.) degree from University of North Texas Health Science Center, Fort Worth, TX in 2004.

Dr. Suravarapu completed his Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center; Affiliated with Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, NY.  He is board certified in Internal Medicine. Memberships include American Medical Association and American College of Physicians.

Dr. Suravarapu is married and has one daughter. His wife is a final year resident in Family Medicine at University of Nebraska Medical Center Rural Track Program. During his free time he enjoys playing cricket, table tennis, and spending time with his family.
